This is a list of some bookstores I have really liked, in no particular order. Most of them are second-hand bookstores.
-
The Corner Stone Bookshop in Plattsburgh, NY.
- Cheap second hand books, three levels worth of. Great selection, very cozy.
-
The Montague Book Mill in Montague, MA.
- A dream come a location. It used to be a mill, and it overlooks a lovely river. Lots of academic books. I have looked up for rentals in Montague with a dreamy idea of living right next to it. I would live here if I could.
-
Tim’s Used Books in Provincetown, MA.
- I have been to Tim’s at least once a year for almost 10 years now.
-
Quabog Book Shop in West Brookfield, MA.
- I loved this place. It had a couple of old esoteric books on Nepal that I bought. I could have spent days here easily.
- Carlson and Turner Antiquarian Books and Bookbindery in Portland, Maine.
- Cheap, rare books. Top, top spot.
- Downtown Books in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- Stacks of books in a hot room with a fan that helped but not enough. The proprietor Scott was very fun to talk to.
- Owl Pen Books in Greenwich, New York.
- A true hidden gem. Many amazing, old books. Found and bought the very first edition of the Power Broker here (!).
